How Microdermabrasion Works
Microdermabrasion uses a highly controlled flow of fine, medical grade crystals to remove the dead, outermost layer of skin. This skin exfoliation process reveals the new living skin cells that are soft, smooth and receptive to nutrients.
The procedure is performed by using a hand piece that the operator passes over the skin two or three times. This evenly removes the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin. The underlying epidermis is also stimulated by the abrasion and the vacuum. This promotes the generation of new collagen, which thickens the dermis and improves the resistance to the effect of aging.
How Often
The microdermabrasion procedure is optimally performed over a period of several weeks, with a maintenance treatment scheduled every 1-2 months apart thereafter. Treatments range from 5-6 treatments scheduled 7-10 days apart for normal skin, to 12 or more treatments for various other skin pathologies. A 15 minute complimentary consultation is available to address any questions or concerns before you schedule this treatment.
